THE JUDICIARY

The Judicial Branch of the government spends $4.5 million out of its $5.052 million annual budget for personnel.

Documents showed that the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice Miguel S. Demapan, who gets $130,000 a year, spends $1.3 million.

It has 20 funded FTEs and seven vacancies, mostly for marshals.

The High Court has only two personnel getting a pay of $15,000 and one $18,000. All others receive over $30,000.

The Superior Court, headed by presiding judge Robert C. Naraja, who receives $123,000, spends $2.9 million for 62 personnel.

Of 62 people, 16 receive an annual salary of less than $20,000.

The Superior Court has 86 authorized FTEs.

The Law Revision Commission, which has six FTEs, spends $276,328.

The fiscal year 2006 proposed budget wants to raise the judiciary’s budget to $5.7 million.
