Bank of Hawaii announced yesterday its plan to relocate its Susupe branch to the Chalan Kanoa area of Saipan.

The new Chalan Kanoa branch, which is tentatively scheduled to open on July 5, 2005, will be conveniently situated at the Townhouse Shopping Center, next to the Blockbuster store.

“We’re looking forward to the new location, which is in the heart of a growing area of the island,” said Steve Brock, Bank of Hawaii district manager for the CNMI. “Bank of Hawaii is proud to have been helping to meet the financial needs of our island for more than 30 years and this investment points to our continued commitment in the community.”

Brock added that all of the current employees of the Susupe branch will relocate to Chalan Kanoa.

“The layout of the new branch is designed to help facilitate service needs and transactions for our customers,” explained Brock. “Bank of Hawaii’s sales and service culture strives to increase efficiency and ensure customers are able to easily and conveniently take care of their banking needs.”

The 2,500-square-foot branch is being designed by Cliff Terry of TRB Architects; the contractor is Jones & Guerrero.

The Susupe Branch will close at the end of normal business hours on July 1, 2005. Bank of Hawaii customers will have access to the ATM at the current Susupe branch until the close of business that day.

Customers may continue to use all of the bank’s other ATMs conveniently located at the Townhouse Shopping Center, Pacific Islands Club, Dai Ichi Hotel, Hyatt Regency commonwealth Health Center, Garapan Branch, Joeten Hafa Adai, and Joeten Dandan.

Founded in 1897, Bank of Hawaii is the largest independent financial institution in the state of Hawaii. It began operations on Saipan in 1971 and has two branches.
