CNMI youth to be busy with summer camp
As classes near their end, the CNMI’s youth are in for a busy summer, with the CNMI Youth Affairs Office under the Office of the Governor announcing this year’s summer camp.
The Youth Bazaar Summer Camp is slated from June 18 to July 23 at the Hopwood Junior High School’s beach ground. The summer camp is inviting all youth aging eight to 18 years old.
Youth affairs special assistant Florence Kirby said during a special meeting with seven other youth organizations in the CNMI last Wednesday that the camp expects to draw more than 300 youth on the island.
The camp would charge a minimal fee to cover the children’s insurance and meals for the duration of the summer camp, she said.
She said these children would have fun and be more productive during school break. They would learn music, modern and cultural dances, sports, cooking, carpentry and many other things. Kirby said the children will have tremendous fun learning new things and exploring their innate potentials.
The Youth Affairs Office is inviting interested individuals to join them in this worthwhile activity for the youth. They are currently looking for camp directors, youth camp assistants, skilled professionals, traditional and modern artists and weavers, dance and music instructors, sports coordinators, camp cooks, and talents of other professions.
The Youth Affairs Office, said Kirby, will also be participating in the upcoming Liberation Day celebration and the output of the summer camp will be displayed during the celebration.
Interested parties can contact the Youth Affairs Office at 664-2228 or 664-2248 for more information and registration.
