More support for PSS
As a concerned student at the Saipan Southern High School, I write to urge more support for the Public School System. All public schools in the CNMI are in a bad shape right now. As you are probably aware, school buses are vandalized. I want to bring this to your attention because it seems to me that nothing about the vandalized school buses is being done to take care of this problem.
There are too many problems occurring in public schools. We are lacking textbooks, desk and chairs. The library is lacking some books that we the students need for school purposes. There are some tables that are broken that we can’t use properly. We are in need of books because many classes have to share books for individual work.
We are lacking teachers. Sometimes we do nothing for a month because we have no teacher. A substitute teacher comes in to teach us something about the particular subject we are in, but the downside of the situation is right when we got used to his or her teaching, another substitute comes in. Why is this happening? Not only am I concerned, but I am worried about the young students.
We are lacking school funds. For example, not all schools have a school van for transportation for any school purposes. I am proud of how Saipan Southern High School is doing. But we don’t have a school gym. We need a gym for indoor activity. We need student lockers outside of the classrooms for our belongings. We can’t carry three or four heavy and thick books all day. It would be wonderful to have school lockers for student use.
Again, I ask you kindly to support the PSS for a better environment at all public schools.
