Once again the L.L. Sleese Staks were a part of another one-sided affair amidst a series of sweeps on Thursday night at the Pacific Islands Clubs, but this time they were on the losing end of the match, upended in three straight sets by the talented Libweiirs!! in the 6th Annual Coors Light Four-Person Beach Volleyball League

Trouble was brewing for the Sleese Staks right from the beginning as they were thumped in the first set by an 11-2 score. The cast of veterans were unable to shake the effects of the loss during the second set of the best-of- three match, and fell to Mili Saiki and the Jazz Rosokow show11-8 in the clincher.

With the loss already etched into their record, the Sleese Staks still had a chance to take one of the sets to add to their season-long total, but they left the sand empty handed when they dropped the third, 11-6.

With the loss, the L.L. Sleese Staks fell to 5-1 and slipped to third place behind Libweiirs!! (5-1), who leaped over them into second, while the Air Biscuits (5-1) wafted into first place without even showing up to the PIC.

The sweeps continued in the second game of the night when Monkeys and Bananas took the broom to Ganbarimasho in straight sets of 11-5, 11-6, and 11-7. Nan Intharaluk showed off some of the skills that lead to his selection to the CNMI’s Beach Volleyball team heading toward the 2005 South Pacific Mini-Games in Palau, as Monkeys and Bananas improved their record to 4-1, and their place in the standings to fourth.

The Bananas got right to the point and didn’t monkey around in the wind, as did the Crashers, who made quick work of …But We Don’t Swallow by a combined score of 33-9.

Scott Eck, Leo Wania, led the Nikki Shryack crash attack to their most dominating victory of the year—and also their second. At 2-3, the Crashers are securely in eighth place ahead of Yacchatta!! (1-5), Ganbarimasho (0-6), and their latest non-swallowing victims (0-6). All they have to do is defeat Ganbarimasho on Thursday, June 9, to complete their sweep of teams worse off than they are.

They dusted off Yacchatta!! a couple of weeks ago, but is was the Smackers turn to sweep them on Thursday night, but players from both teams agreed that the game was much closer than the score and set count would indicate.

Eddie Kim, Peter Bocago, Eva Johnson, and Kaycee Rengaelur bumped, set, and spiked their way to an 11-8 win for the Smackers in the first set, and Izumi Kawakami subbed into the second to give them the game in an 11-5 win.

With injured captain Kimiko Hasegawa and Faheem Ebrahim on the sidelines, Yacchatta!! leaned on the talent of Tyce Mister and the experience of Steve Nguyen, but fell shy of the win in the third set, 11-9.
