Arson probers investigating Saturday’s fire at the Kagman High School said the suspects barged inside the southern portion of the school by destroying a hallway window and burglarized some classrooms.

Arson investigator Martin A. Pua said his team found a hollow block near the shattered window that was believed to be the point of entry by the suspects who set fire to the school’s Environmental Science and Oceanography Room.

Pua said some items were missing from the room. He added that another classroom was also burglarized, from which some items were also missing.

“The…fire was set intentionally,” Pua said in a report to Department of Public Safety commissioner Santiago Tudela.

Pua said three individuals wearing dark-colored short pants were seen at the school’s premises as the fire raged.

DPS spokesman Eric David said yesterday that no suspect has been identified yet.

“Officially, we don’t have suspects until completion of the investigation,” David said. “The suspects may be [KHS] students or students from [other schools].”

Saturday night’s fire gutted some $50,000-worth of computer and information technology equipment. Division of Fire director John Wabol said earlier this week that his office was eyeing juveniles as suspects in the arson case.

The fire engulfed the school’s Environmental Science and Oceanography Room and gutted IT equipment, including LCD projectors and a laptop acquired through federal grants.

A 29-inch television had melted due to the intensity of the heat; the fire reduced microscopes, desktop computers, printers, and wireless computer modems to cinders.
