NMHC building under renovation
The Northern Marianas Housing Corporation is letting the public know that its office is under renovation and would like to ask the their patience and understanding in the inconvenience it may cause them.
Executive director Maria Lourdes S. Ada said the front portion of their office would be unavailable for entrance. She said arrows are now posted at the parking lot to direct customers for a temporary access at the rear of the building.
Board of Directors chair Manuel A. Sablan released a press statement last week informing the public about the construction. Sablan said the project would include electronic sensor doors for security access to the building.
Sablan said they are expanding their lobby too. They are also adding more public restrooms and they are relocating their payment window to serve the community better.
He said the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant is funding the renovation project.
“Once completed, the renovation will meet full compliance to the Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, also to serve the member of the community with disabilities.
“NMHC board, staff and management wish to solicit the public’s patience and understanding while renovation of the office takes place,” he said.
NMHC is also requesting the public for their comments regarding the proposed reprogramming of Community Development Block Grant funds proposed activities to ongoing and alternative projects.
Original projects include Rota Baseball Field with original amount of $300,000; Tinian Outdoor Stage, $300,000; Garapan Water Quality, $600,000; Cultural and Performing Arts, $345,000.
