Municipal council lauds Aquino
The 8th Saipan And Northern Islands Municipal Council has adopted a resolution commending Dr. Francisco Iwashita Aquino, a person of Northern Mariana descent, for obtaining his Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Public Policy from Michigan State University-Extension, Wexford County, and for bringing honor and distinction to the people of the CNMI and the territory of Guam.
Aquino received his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Guam in Mangilao and a master’s degree in Public Administration, also from the same university.
His military education and training include Army Basic Training; Advanced Individual Training (Clerk Typist School); Infantry Officers’ Basic Course; Airborne (Parachutist) School; Ranger School, Air Assault School; Rappel Masters’ School; Nuclear Biological Chemical School; Strategic Deploy Ability School; Jungle Warfare School, Commander and First Sergeant’s Course; Army Postal Officers’ Course, U.S. Army Master Fitness School and Adjutant General advanced course.
His academic awards and civilian accomplishments include the George Catlett Marshall Award (Virginia Military Institute); Distinguished Military Graduate—ranked Number 1 of 17 officers commissioned from University of Guam in the Reserve Officers’ Training Course order of merit list; Who’s Who Among College Students; inducted into the Chi Omicron Gamma for Scholastic Achievement and Academic Excellence (4.00 GPA), graduate school; Best Thesis Award for the College of Business and Public Administration, University of Guam, among others.
He is a member of the National Member of the Disabled American Veterans, National Chapter; Chi Omicron Gamma; Bell Tower Fundraising committee, Santa Remedios Church, Tanapag; volunteer, CNMI Diabetes Coalition, Saipan; Volunteer for respite children, Little Darlings Day Care, Susupe; member, International Judo Federation; and member, Guam National Olympics committee.
Aquino was born on Jan. 6, 1968, and is the son of proud parents Daniel Evangelista Aquino familian “Galabok” and Maria Iwashita Perez familian “Balako,” the grandson of proud grandparents Mariano and Maria Evangelista Aquino (dec.) and Jose Attao and Manuela Dela Cruz Blas (dec.). He is husband to Rosa Borja Camacho Aquino, the daughter of Joaquin Rios and Gabriela Borja Camacho (dec.), and father to proud children Queanna, Kristen and Queayla.
“The members of the municipal council and the people of the CNMI are extremely gratified with the strong desire and commitment of…Aquino…to return to the CNMI and assist his people in their continual development and growth,” reads part of the resolution.
The resolution was certified by chair Gregorio V. Deleon Guerrero and vice chair David A. Indalecio and attested by secretary Antonia M. Tudela.
