New Caledonia keeps strong hold on medal lead
New Caledonia kept a strong hold on the medal count lead, and has accounted for a whopping 32 of the 147 medals after Day 2 of the 2005 Palau South Pacific Mini Games.
After bagging 15 medals on opening day of the competition, New Caledonia racked up another 17 medals, 14 of them coming courtesy of their swimmers on the pool, who combined to grab eight gold, three silver, and three bronze.
Papua New Guinea has nine gold and two bronze for a total of 11 and second place on the list, while Nauru bagged an incredible nine gold medals to hold the third spot.
Fiji and Palau each have four gold, however, Fiji leads Palau due to the addition of their seven silver and four bronze for a total of 15 medals. Palau has four bronze to go along with their gold.
CNMI, Solomon Islands, Wallis & Futuna, Samoa, Tonga, Cook Islands, and Vanuatu each have one gold. CNMI’s five silver and three bronze helped the delegation sit at the No. 6 spot, while Solomon Islands follows with four silver and a bronze. Wallis & Futuna has a silver and bronze for three total medals, while Samoa has a silver and Tonga a bronze.
Niue has three silver medals and as in 13th place while Guam follows with seven medals, five being bronze and two silver.
