The Bureau of Motor Vehicles of the Department of Public Safety has started issuing out special license plates for military veterans, retirees, and reservists in the CNMI.

The DPS, in a news statement Wednesday, said the license plates will cost $25 per pair. The registration renewal fee is also set at $25 for each pair.

Interested individuals may pay the fees at the Treasury Office located at the Bureau of Motor Vehicle and then proceed to the old Court House Building for processing and issuance of the license plates.

The bureau, however, said there are requirements before they could get the special plates. For veterans, they would have to submit and show the completed DD Form 214, while retirees could submit and show the same form or their retirement order. Reservists, on the other hand, must show their ID card upon application for the special license plates.

Applicants must also bring their current car registration and insurance.

Interested individuals are encouraged to avail themselves of this opportunity by visiting the BMV office during regular business hours from 7:30am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. They may also call Pete Muna at 664-9070/66 or Ruth Coleman 664-2650/51 to inquire.
