A man is facing criminal charges at the Superior Court for allegedly abducting a woman at gunpoint on Saipan last Friday.

The Attorney General’s Office lodged charges of kidnapping and assault with a dangerous weapon against 40-year-old Joseph Cepeda.

CNMI chief prosecutor Jeffrey Moots said Cepeda abducted Leilani Desebel Ellis on Capitol Hill. Cepeda allegedly forced Ellis into his car and brought her to San Roque.

Moots said Cepeda threatened to kill Ellis. The defendant allegedly pointed a gun at her. (John Ravelo)
