A man faces criminal charges for allegedly kicking a police officer while resisting arrest after slapping another.

The Attorney General’s Office on Monday charged George Chomoki, a 37-year-old resident of China Town, with two counts of assault and battery and a count of resisting arrest.

CNMI chief prosecutor Jeffrey Moots told the Superior Court that Chomoki unlawfully slapped one Jun Guo Miao on Saipan last Aug. 14. When police responded, Moots said the defendant willfully resisted law enforcers by struggling with them.

Moots also accused Chomoki of kicking police officer Vicente Sablan.
