In its continuing effort to promote a healthy lifestyle in the CNMI, the Community Guidance Center will host a volleyball tournament this weekend at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

This according to organizer Pat Tagabuel of the CGC, who said during a recent interview that the event, dubbed as the Drug Free Volleyball Tournament, will kick off tomorrow, Oct. 1 and conclude with the crowning of champions on Sunday, Oct. 2.

Tagabuel disclosed that like the annual Jam Attack tournament, the Drug Free volleyball tourney would feature a division for men and another for women.

He said all interested teams must inform organizers of their will to compete in the tournament by 4:30pm today. Also, rosters are limited to eight players per squad, with six players on the court at each time.

“Everything is all set and ready and all interested are invited to take part,” Tagabuel said. “All that is needed now is for the teams to sign up.”

With the main purpose of hosting the tournament being to promote drug free activities for families and the community, as well as healthier living through exercise, tournament officials have decided to waive the entrance fee, meaning teams competing do not have to spend a penny to join.

After all the bumps, sets, and kills, organizers will present trophies to the top three teams in each divisions, as well as the most valuable player from each division.

A meeting was held yesterday evening at the Ada gym conference room to discuss important matters relating to the tournament.
