The fiercesome foursome of Joe “Kamikaze” Camacho, Sasaki Oliver, Tony Benavente, and Alex Aquininoc made the most of a picture perfect day on the links on Saturday by winning the 10th Annual Club at the Hyatt Golf Classic with an average net score of a stroke and a half under par on Laolao Bay Golf Resort’s beautiful and challenging west course.

As a team, the outstanding squad of strikers landed a gross score of 56 in the 4-person best-ball scramble format, but their negative handicap of 14.4 elevated their total to 70.4—just .2 points under the 70.6 of Steve Jang, Norman Tenorio, Peter Tenorio, and Joey Dela Cruz (61 gross).

The third place pairings of Mike and Belle Grandinetti, Tony Satur, and Mike Johnson were just percentage points behind as well; recording a 70.8 after combining for a gross score of 66.

Following the tournament, the top teams received a well deserved poolside banquet at the Hyatt, and for their efforts on the fairways and green, the winners reeled in a free night’s stay at the Hyatt Regency Saipan each with brunches for two, while the runners up brought home accommodations in a deluxe room with dinner for two at the Kili Café. The third-place team didn’t walk away empty handed either, as they earned massages at Club Elan and lunches at Miyako for two.

The only no-show for the outing was “golf pro” Jimmy McDougal of Scotland who made the mistake of waiting too long to sign up for the affair.

“It’s me own fault for not registering for the darn thing, but I’ll be back next year,” he said.

A total of 132 duffers filled out the 34 teams of four that showed up to compete in the yearly fund raiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and according to tournament director Faheem Ebrahim, there was nary room for another.

“The tournament was full and everybody had a great time out there,” he said

While it will take some time before the exact number of dollars raised for the cause becomes available, Ebrahim said that the figures will be out within the week.
