Hoopaholics bag 10th win without breaking a sweat
Powerhouse Bud Ice-SaipanCell Hoopaholics bagged its 10th win of the season without even breaking a sweat in the 2005 Budweiser Cup BANMI Men’s Island-wide Basketball League Friday night.
The Bud Ice cagers were itching to play and waited on the parking lot of the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium, however, they settled for the easy win after Anheuser-8 3’s Construction failed to suit up players for their scheduled bout.
A 15-minute forfeit time was in effect after Anheuser was a no show at game time.
With the win, Bud Ice (10-2) moved just a half a game behind two-time defending champion Bud Light-Toyota Tundra, which sits on top of the team standings with an 11-2 win-loss card.
The two teams are scheduled to clash tonight at 8:30pm, with the pennant title on the line.
Toyota defeated Hoops by two points in their first round meeting last Oct. 14. Tonight’s bout is Toyota’s final regular season game and the team can wrap up the pennant with a win.
Bud Ice, meanwhile, still has a shot at the pennant. The team must win by more than two points tonight, and must follow it up with a victory in their final regular season bout scheduled for this Friday against Michelob-Masters Construction to claim the title.
Michelob also plays tonight, battling O’Douls-Ol’Aces at 7pm.
