IVYBL Christmas tourney meeting tomorrow
Organizers of the upcoming Island-wide Village Youth Basketball League Christmas Tournament are encouraging all interested teams to be present at a mandatory meeting set for tomorrow at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium conference room.
Co-coordinator Jonathan Tenorio disclosed yesterday that the meeting will be held at 10am and will focus on important matters including rosters, fees, schedule of games, and rules and regulations, among many others.
Being that the tournament is organized by the IVYBL, league rules and regulations will apply, such as all cagers in the 15-player roster must be under the age of 15 years. Also, all players on the roster who are present during the game must see action.
Already confirmed to take part in the tournament are the Matansa Sparks, Garapan Rollers I and II, Tinian Stallions, Afetnas, Tanapag Young Warriors, and the San Antonio Sixers I and II .
The tournament will be held from Dec. 27 to Dec. 29 at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium, and that slots are limited to just 10 teams. If necessary, games will be played on Dec. 30.
Teams making it to the playoffs are assured cash prizes, with the champion receiving $150, the runner-up getting $125, third place $100, and fourth place $75. Trophies will also be presented to the top teams.
In addition, a trophy and $50 will be awarded for best sportsmanship, while $25 and a trophy will be given to the most valuable player.
A banquet and awards ceremony will be held immediately after the championship game.
