DPS to conduct OPCR, sobriety checkpoints today and Saturday

The Traffic Section of the Department of Public Safety will be conducting occupant protection and child restraint and sobriety checkpoints today and Saturday.

The first set up today, Dec. 7, will be along 16th Highway Dan Dan by Joeten Market and will commence at approximately 8pm and will be terminated at approximately 9:15pm.

The second set up this evening will be along 2W Chalan Lau Lau by Trans-America and will commence at approximately 10:30pm and will be terminated at approximately 11:45pm.

On Dec. 10, the first set up will be along Beach Road San Antonio by CHC Health Clinic and will commence at approximately 9pm and will be terminated at approximately 10:15pm.

The second set up Saturday will be along Beach Road Chalan Lau Lau by the B&R Repair Shop and will commence at approximately 12:30am and will be terminated at approximately 1:45am.

The third set up will occur simultaneously with the second and will be conducted along 2W Chalan Lau Lau by Verizon and will commence at approximately 12:30am and will be terminated at approximately 1:45am.

Each checkpoint conducted will last at least 75 minutes (1 hour 15 minutes) at each location.

This activity is part of DPS’ efforts to deter and detect impaired drivers and to ensure that all vehicle occupants are protected.

In addition, traffic officers will be conducting highway criminal interdictions, saturation patrols, aggressive driver interdictions, and laser activities.
