Man beats up wife in front of kids
A woman landed in the hospital after her drunken husband repeatedly punched her when she refused to give him their car key, according to court papers.
Police said the woman suffered a bruise “about a circumference of a baseball” on the left rib cage and smaller bruises on the right rib case.
The husband, Joel Manalansan Enriquez, 41, was arrested on Monday night for assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
Detective Andrea Ozawa stated in her report that the victim filed domestic violence complaints against the defendant several times in the past.
Ozawa said all the beatings happened in front of the couple’s two minor children.
Ozawa said that on the night of Dec. 14, 2005 Enriquez was drinking alcohol with co-workers at their residence in As Terlaje.
Later, the defendant asked for their car key, but the wife reportedly refused to give it to him because he was already drunk.
At 3am, Enriquez woke up and asked for the car key again. When she handed the key, the defendant punched her thrice on the head.
The wife felt dizzy. Enriquez, however, punched her again numerous times on the body.
During the struggle, the wife also scratched the defendant.
