Daisy Villagomez Bier, an official of the Northern Marianas College, will get the appointment as secretary of the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs, an official of the transition team disclosed yesterday.

A family member of Bier who requested anonymity also confirmed to the Saipan Tribune that Bier was indeed offered the Cabinet position and had already accepted it.

Sources said Bier was on the top list of the transition’s credentials committee.

The Saipan Tribune contacted Bier in her office at NMC, but a staff member said she was in a meeting and that she would not comment until the inauguration of the administration of Gov.-elect Benigno Fitial.

Bier has been working at NMC for 16 years. She is currently the director for counseling at the college.

She is the first cousin of Lt. Gov.-elect Timothy Villagomez, Saipan Tribune learned.

Bier is the eldest of four children by Marylou Castillo Villagomez and the late Manuel Tenorio Villagomez. She is married to Claus Bier.
