Rep. Stanley T. Torres has a name for the 15th House of Representatives: House of the 7-11.

During yesterday’s inauguration ceremony and session, Torres told Speaker Oscar Babauta that he wants to call the 15th House “a.k.a. House of the 7-11.”

This provoked laughter from some of his colleagues and the spectators.

Torres (Independent, District 3) told the Saipan Tribune that he and the six other members of the minority bloc are the “magnifying seven.”

“ We will be watching the majority 11,” he said.

Torres said he is hoping that the House leadership would treat the minority well. “I have the feeling that they will be monitoring our bills that we introduce especially mine because I’m the most [vocal] critic,” he said.

But Torres assured people that he is willing to help. “Whatever help they need to improve the CNMI, I will help them.”

Torres said the other members of the “Magnifying 7” are Arnold I. Palacios, Candido B. Taman, Joseph P. Deleon Guerrero, Ramon A. Tebuteb, Benjamin Seman, and Manuel A. Tenorio.
