Rangamar done with first half of Chief Coach Course
Northern Marianas Athletics coaches’ director Elias Rangamar has just completed the first half of the two-week Chief Coaching Course.
In an email message received yesterday, Ramgamar explained that his first week in Brisbane, Australia has been very busy, yet interesting.
“Class is getting a bit more interesting and challenging with a lot more debates going on,” Rangamar said. “[Yesterday] is the last day on the first part of the course. Finally, a day off [today], with home works of course.”
The first session has been divided into three sessions—Coaching Process, People Leadership and Management, and Process Leadership and Management. It was conducted by Dr. Cliff Mallett of University of Queensland, as well as other lecturers from the university.
The second session begins tomorrow with its focus on the practical aspects associated with delivering world class performances, and conduction of the segment will be led by Professor Elio Locatelli, who is head of the IAAF Member Services department. Other presenters include coaches who had successfully conducted national programs as a chief coach.
Rangamar was invited by the IAAF, and is the only representative from Micronesia.
The course began last Jan. 4 and will conclude on Jan. 18.
The focus of the course is to develop skills and abilities in the areas of the coaching process, people leadership, and process management, as well as the practical aspects of preparing and managing national programs and national teams. (Shan Seman)
