NOAA CRM fellow on island

Lihla Noori recently joined the Division of Environmental Quality, Coastal Resources Management and Division of Fish and Wildlife team on Saipan.

She will be working on improving and expanding current coral reef education and outreach efforts on Rota, as well as assisting with ongoing marine monitoring, watershed management activities and marine protected areas.

The NOAA Coral Reef Management fellow will be situated at the DEQ Rota office for a period of two years. She has a B.S. in Environmental Studies and is currently working toward her M.S. in Experiential Education.

Noori’s experience in community development, grassroots conservation and wilderness education is touted as an asset to the local team. After working with the Marshall Islands’ Environmental Protection Authority in Biodiversity Conservation, and in the outer island of Ebon Atoll as a WorldTeach volunteer, she is proficient in island-style life, Marshallese language and culture.
