Man hurt in San Antonio robbery
A man was injured during a robbery staged by a group of persons in San Antonio on Monday night.
The victim, a 41-year-old Filipino, told police that the suspects divested him of his Swiss Army brand wristwatch and a gold necklace with three pendants—a cross, horse, and dragon.
The victim sustained minor injuries in the rib area and was treated by the Department of Public Safety’s emergency medical technicians at the scene, according to DPS Criminal Investigation Bureau chief Maj. Edward H. Manalili.
Manalili said that on Monday at 8:10pm DPS received a report that a robbery had occurred in San Antonio.
Manalili said investigation showed that while the victim was walking adjacent to the Pacific Islands Club, a blue low-rider pickup truck blocked his way.
The victim observed several occupants in and on the back of the truck.
One of the passengers from the back jumped and grabbed the victim by his shirt. The driver got down and kicked him in the rib area, causing the victim to fall to the ground.
“Police are asking assistance from the public who may have seen or have information about this incident to call the police at 664-9042 or the Crime Stoppers hotline at 234-7272,” Manalili said.
