’Employees of the former Marianas Public Lands Authority may still comfortably occupy their positions, at least for now, in view of the administration’s promise to uphold “due process.”

“Some people [including the media] are already impatient but they’re forgetting there’s due process,” said acting Public Lands Secretary John Del Rosario yesterday.

He said the department, through the Office of Personnel and Management, continues to review personnel records.

Up to now, it is not known yet who among the personnel needs to go, he said.

“We don’t know yet if we have to terminate people or hire more people,” Del Rosario said.

Further, he said that the department cannot release any information to the media in view of the pending investigation by the Office of the Public Auditor.

The OPA is looking into alleged abuses by officials of the former Marianas Public Lands Authority.

On Feb. 22, the MPLA was dissolved through legislation. In its place now is the Department of Public Lands.

Del Rosario said major changes in the department would be seen in May this year.
