Legislature closes strong to beat CHC, Labor wins
The Legislature Lawmakers dug deep and found the needed energy to notch another victory, while the Department of Labor moved a half game ahead of Department of Community Cultural Affairs in the team standings after beating Office of the Public Auditor in Tuesday’s 2006 Inter-Government Basketball League action at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
Legislature got another big game from its big three as Dave Sablan, Sim Iramk, and Ray Duenas each posted impressive numbers to lead the team to a 90-81 victory over the Commonwealth Health Center.
Sablan was on fire from the start as he poured in 13 points in the first 10 minutes, while Iramk drilled in two triples and had eight points to lead Legislature to a 29-22 advantage.
CHC was able to storm back and put more pressure on the Lawmakers as Tony Raho controlled action in the paint, pumping in eight points to help CHC pull to within five points, 43-48, at the break.
CHC continued to pull closer, cutting the deficit to just two points, 62-64, with one period remaining, but was not able to cause more trouble for the Lawmakers as Duenas and Sablan combined for 24 points to help Legislature hold on for the win.
Sablan led the Lawmakers with 36 points, while Iramk and Duenas pumped in 22 and 18 points.
