HAGÅTÑA, Guam—Continental Micronesia has announced additional flight service between Guam and Cairns beginning April 3. The extra flight is added to Continental’s regularly scheduled, non-stop service between Guam and Cairns, which operates on Thursday and Sunday.

Starting April 3, Continental will add a Monday flight, increasing service to three times per week. CO902 will depart Guam at 6:35pm and arrive in Cairns at 11:05pm. CO903 will depart Cairns at 12:10am and return to Guam at 4:35am.

Currently CO902 departs Guam on Thursday and Sundays at 8pm and arriving in Cairns at 12:35am the next day. CO903 depart Cairns on Monday and Friday at 1:35am and arrive in Guam at 6am.

Flight time is four hours and 25 minutes on a next-generation Boeing 737-800 twinjet outfitted with winglets. The aircraft seats up to 155 passengers in a two-class cabin, 14 in business and 141 in economy.

“We’re glad to bring back the third weekly service. We’ve seen an increase of Japan travelers to Cairns and that’s driven up demand for this additional service. Also, we’ve been aggressive in promoting North Queensland in Guam and also promoting Guam and the neighboring Micronesian Islands in North Queensland. As a result, passenger volume grew significantly during the year to justify an additional flight,” said Continental Micronesia staff vice president for sales and marketing Wally Dias. The airlines added the Guam-Cairns route in 1998.

Continental Micronesia President and Chief Executive Officer said the added flight is perfect for Cairns travelers longing for a new holiday experience. “The additional flight gives our customers flexibility when planning their travel to Guam and beyond. Further, the arrival time at Continental’s hub in Guam allows for a quick connection to other Micronesian destinations, Honolulu and onward to Los Angeles and other points in the U.S. mainland.”

Continental Micronesia is headquartered in Guam and operates a Pacific hub from the A.B. Won Pat Guam International Airport. (PR)
