A woman was convicted for pulling the hair and scratching the face of another woman.

Tamita Haro pleaded guilty to assault and battery.

Superior Court Associate Judge Juan T. Lizama accepted Haro’s plea and sentenced her to six months in prison, all suspended.

Lizama placed the defendant on probation and required her to pay $100 fine, perform 24 hours of community work service, and write a letter of apology to the victim.

Court papers said that on Sept. 19, 2005 the defendant struck the victim with an empty soda can, pulled her hair, and scratched her face.

In other court news, a teenager accused of assaulting a man with a baseball bat and damaging his car, has entered a guilty plea.

Johnny John, 19, pleaded guilty to assault and battery.

Lizama accepted his plea and sentenced him to one year in prison, all suspended except 132 days.

As part of the agreement, the judge gave John credit for the 132 days he already served in jail.

Lizama placed the defendant on probation and directed him to pay $1,000 in restitution and $230 in fine and court assessment fee.

John was charged with one count of criminal mischief and two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon. The government then filed an amended information.

Court papers said that on Oct. 2, 2005 the defendant beat up MD Aashraful Alam.

On Nov. 11, 2005, the defendant allegedly struck the victim’s car’s rear windshield with a baseball bat. He also allegedly struck the victim with a baseball bat on the neck, causing the victim to feel dizzy. (Ferdie de la Torre)
