For the Betty’s and Tommy’s who patrol Saipan’s beaches in search of sandy competition, it’s been far too long since the top local teams donned the board shorts and challenged the region’s best in the Marianas Cup.

Now they have a chance to taste competition once again as Club Elan at the Hyatt is bringing all of the bumps, sets, and spikes back to the Garapan sand for the Bon Voyage Beach Volleyball Tournament.

In light of Club Elan manager Faheem Ebrahim’s imminent departure from Saipan, the folks at the Hyatt have put together a three-on-three co-ed beach volleyball tournament on April 23 to give him one last chance at winning.

While teams should be formed prior to registration, organizers will play the part of matchmakers for those who wander in solo, but teams are limited to no more than four players.

Registration gets started at 9:15am with the opening serve crossing the net promptly at 9:45am.

“Get your boardies on and hop on down because it’s my last weekend in town and I’m bringing my A-Game,” said Ebrahim.

The cost to register for a chance to school Ebrahim in his Saipan swan song is $10 per player and includes fruit, juice, sushi rolls, chips, salsa, access to Club Elan, and a weekend’s worth of volleyball crammed into one day at the beach.

There are also lunches, brunches, and possibly a room night on the line for the tournament’s most valuable player, so get in soon. For more information, contact Ebrahim by calling 234-1234 ext. 25.
