11 Saipan beaches red-flagged
The Division of Environmental Quality has red-flagged 11 Saipan beaches.
Affected sites are the Central Repair Shop, DPW Channel Bridge, Smiling Cove Marina, American Memorial Park, Micro Beach, Hyatt Hotel, (Da-Ichi) Fiesta Hotel, Garapan Fishing Dock, Sugar Dock, CK Dist#2 Drain, and Hopwood School Beach.
Samples collected from these locations contained excessive concentrations of bacteria that can indicate the presence of human and animal waste in the water. (DEQ)
