Federal judge authorizes IRS to dispose Tinian Dynasty’s $2.5M

U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona yesterday authorized the U.S. Internal Revenue Service to dispose the $2.5 million that the owner of Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino has agreed to pay as part of a $3.03 million settlement of a criminal case.

This developed as Manglona granted yesterday Assistant U.S. Attorney Russell Lorfing’s motion for the court to issue an entry of default judgment and final order of forfeiture as to Hong Kong Entertainment (Overseas) Investments Ltd.’s $2.5 million.

In granting the U.S. government’s motion, Manglona ordered that HKE’s $2.5 million in U.S. currency is forfeited to the U.S.

Manglona also adjudged that any right, title, and interest of HKE and that of any other person or entities in the $2.5 million are vested in the U.S. government.

Lorfing informed the court that despite published notice, no one contest the U.S. government’s action to forfeit Tinian Dynasty’s $2.5 million.

Lorfing said no one has appeared to defend on behalf of the $2.5 million.

HKE gave the $2.5 million to the U.S. government in the form of check last July 23 pursuant to their non-prosecutorial deal.

The new owners of HKE and the U.S. government have agreed not to prosecute the criminal case against HKE in exchange for HKE’s forfeiture of $3.03 million.

The federal court dismissed the criminal charges against HKE last July at the U.S. government’s request.
