$22K for Tinian beach beautification projects from e-gaming funds OK’d
Acting governor Ralph DLG Torres signed into law last Monday a Tinian local bill to appropriate $22,000 from the “Tourism Enhancement and Destination” to fund local programs on Tinian to beautify its beaches.
According to copy of the law, the $22,000 will go to a “Tourism Enhancement Beach Project.”
The law moves money from funds collected under the Tourism Entertainment and Destination Act of 2013. That act authorized the operation of electronic table games to supplement poker slot machine game revenues generated in the CNMI, and mandated license fees to be collected.
The bill states that the Tinian municipal treasurer will regulate and control the funds so that no funds may be expended contrary to the act or fiscal management policies.
The bill—or House Local Bill 19-15—was passed unanimously on first and final reading by the Tinian and Aguigan Legislative Delegation last Oct. 14.
