3 former Rota officials, another arrested for corruption charges
Members of the CNMI Public Corruption and White Collar Crimes Task Force arrested this morning, Thursday, on Rota three former municipal officials and another person for alleged conspiracy to steal government properties.
Department of Public Safety acting spokesman Jason Tarkong identified the suspects as Andrew A. Barcinas, 44; Rowena Barcinas, 43; Tina M. Atalig, 46; and Alfred M. Apatang, 41.
Tarkong said DPS will defer on comment concerning details of the investigation to the Office of the Public Auditor.
Saipan Tribune learned that Rowena Barcinas is the former Rota Procurement officer, while Andrew Barcinas is her husband. Atalig is former secretary of then-Rota Mayor Melchor A. Mendiola, while Apatang is the former field supervisor of then-Mayor Mendiola.
More details to follow.
That sound system was purchased way back in 2007 from the Ishimaru’s when he was not a mayor. And Mr. Mendiola is financially capable buying those stupid tables they were accusing him of stealing.
