Two women and an allegedly intoxicated male driver were injured when a pickup truck they were on ran off the road along Beach Road and slammed into a power pole near the Garapan basketball court, causing a power outage in the area early yesterday morning.
The two female passengers—ages 22 and 23, both Chamorros—sustained serious injuries and were brought to the Commonwealth Health Center, according to Department of Public Safety Commissioner James C. Deleon Guerrero.

He said the driver, a 26-year-old Caucasian male, was also taken to CHC and later cited for several violations, including driving while under the influence of alcohol.
He said none of the occupants were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
Police officer Raymond S. Pangelinan discovered the crash yesterday at 3:12am and medics were then summoned to the scene and transported the three victims to CHC.
The vehicle, a gray F150 four-door pickup, sustained extensive damage and the operator of the vehicle was cited for several violations, including DUI.
“We will be withholding their names at this time and more details will be released tomorrow,” Deleon Guerrero said.
Saipan Tribune learned that the accident triggered a power outage in the area after the transformer at the pole exploded or burned. Commonwealth Utilities Corp. crew responded to fix the power pole.
FACT: NEVER RIDE WITH ANYONE INTOXICATED…..OR ON DRUGS…IT CAUSES ACCIDENTS…
“Would you rather ride in a car with a drunk or a person who has just smoked a joint?”
Sir, Mr. Bennett needs to be aware that anyone under the influence of any drugs causes accident according to you. His logic doesn’t click according to your belief and ours. Just Saying.
It will be interesting to see just how many and what kind of charges will be filed against the driver as he being a haole and the people that were injured were young local girls.
When the names come out this will tell a lot.
It is very lucky that no one was killed, but I would be willing to bet that all were intoxicated. I wonder from which bar (or house) they were coming from at that time in the morning. If anyplace else the bar or homeowner would be held liable. I think even Guam has that law.
Buenas Captain,
It is sad to throw the book at someone, just because of his/her ethnicity. Wait a minute, attempted murder was never file against the brother of a sitting senator and the report disappeared into the thin air, maybe there is a substance to what you are trying to say.
I wanna thank the driver for the actual safety test of Ford 150. They survived the impact? I will buy the truck and skip Toyota Tundra.
