31 so far registered for Paupau 5150 Taga Triathlon
More than 30 have so far registered for the Paupau 5150 Taga Triathlon set for May 29, according to Triathlon Association of the CNMI.
TRAC secretary general Ricky Castro said the 31 athletes include five relay teams. He added that they call the event the Paupau 5150 Taga Triathlon because of the total distance of the event—1.5-km swim, 40-km bike, and 10-km run.
The swim route will be two laps out and back to the triangle buoy off Paupau Beach and the bike route will be two laps from Paupau Beach to Seafix Inc., while the run will be from Paupau Beach to east of Last Command Post.
The Olympic-distance triathlon will have several categories including individual male, individual female, and team relay men/women/mixed. The race will have a 6am start time.
The Top 3 finishers will receive cash prizes while the top overall for each age group will receive medals. Everyone who completes the course will also earn finisher’s T-shirt.
Registration is $70 for individuals and $210 for team relay and of registration will be officially closed on May 26. Registration fee includes T-shirt and entrance to the awarding banquet that will be held at Kensington Hotel. TRAC is using the Paupau 5150 Taga Triathlon to raise funds to prepare CNMI triathletes as well as help in hosting the triathlon/aquathlon event for the 2022 Pacific Mini Games. Kensington Hotel and Michelob Ultra are the sponsors of the Paupau 5150 Taga Triathlon.
