4.4-magnitude earthquake off coast of Guam
A 4.4-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Guam over the weekend but no tsunami warnings were issued for Guam and neighboring Northern Marianas.
According to a statement from the CNMI Homeland Security & Emergency Management’s Emergency Operations Center-State Warning Point, the 4.4-magnitude earthquake occurred at 9:40am last Sunday 27 miles north northwest of Guam at a depth of 116.7 mile
Multiple earthquakes were seen last month off the coast of Pagan and Agrihan.
Earthquakes are common in the Marianas archipelago because it part of the Pacific Ring of Fire where majority of the world’s most active volcanoes are located.
