$413,040 awarded to Guam for historic preservation
HAGÅTÑA, Guam—Delegate Madeleine Z. Bordallo (D-GU) announced last week that the government of Guam has been awarded $413,040 by the U.S. Department of the Interior and the National Park Service, part of $48.9 million in historic preservation grants for U.S. states, territories, and partnering nations.
The awarding of historic preservation grants first began in 1977 and have given nearly $2 billion to states, territories, tribes, and non-profit organizations. These funds are supported by Outer Continental Shelf oil lease revenues.
“Guam has a unique history and culture that cannot be found anywhere else in the world,” Bordallo said. “This grant will help us continue to promote historical preservation on our island.” (PR)
