4th Philippine consular mission ends
More than 400 passport applications processed
The fourth Philippine Consulate General’s mobile mission in the CNMI this year closed yesterday after their day and a half service on Tinian at the Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino.
According to Consul Edgar Auxilian of the Philippine Consulate Guam, at least 119 passport applicants were processed on Tinian. More than 60 people availed of the passport extension, while 57 registered as new overseas voters. There were three who availed of notarial and authentication services, six births and marriages were reported, and two employment contracts were verified.
On Saipan, where the mobile consulate mission ended Friday, 295 passport applications were processed, a number lower than the scheduled 360 despite the consulate team accommodating walk-in applicants. Ninety-two availed of the free passport validity extension.
One-hundred-and-seventy-eight Filipinos registered as overseas voters for the 2016 elections. There were 15 reports of birth, while three reported marriage as well as dual citizenship. Sixty-five people availed of notarial services while 27 contracts were verified.
Still on Saipan, 1,200 registered as members of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, the government welfare institution that protects and promotes the interest of its OFW members.
OWWA representative Rey Tayag also went to Tinian and will be going to Rota as well.
According to Auxilian, they will have another mobile mission in October, which is probably their last for the year.
“Our indicative date is last week of October,” Auxilian said.
For the fifth mission, Auxilian said they will be stopping by Rota as well.
“Let’s hope and pray that there will be no weather disturbance so that it won’t be postponed. We’re also running after the schedule for the overseas voter registration, which is Oct. 31,” Auxilian said.
