The Public School System has lined up four major projects this year, including completing the long-stalled Marianas High School gymnasium and the Sinapalu Elementary School on Rota.

PSS Architect Christopher Fryling said phases II and III of the gym’s construction begin in March, after the governor shall have approved the so-called section 702 plan.

DPW Technical Services Director Andy Smith, however, doubted if the gym could be finished in time for the July graduation ceremonies for the summer graduates.

PSS also is hoping that the Sinapalu school, which was started by Rota leaders several years ago, would finally be completed. It needs $900,000 to be finished.

In the next few months, PSS would unveil several school projects: 16 classrooms will be added next month to DanDan Elementary School and the Kagman school will open in September.

The PSS is also scheduled to pay $81,000 to the contractor of a bus shelter in San Vicente school, a project PSS assumed from the previous administration.
