Commissioner of Education Rita H. Inos described this latest program of the Teacher Academy as a taste of reality and a way to move on to higher education. She is speaking about the classroom experience these students, who dream of becoming teachers, are having while they are on vacation. They are also taking courses at the Northern Marianas College.

It’s very interesting. I get to observe more and it actually helps me to decide whether I want to teach or not. The students are good, they really like me and actually right now I enjoy teaching.

I started out with the kindergarten which was really busy for me but was exciting because it’s what I love to do. This is more relaxing for me because this is fourth grade. And so far, I like it. I keep coming back. I enjoy being around with kids and working with teachers and it is fun for me. Ever since I was in junior high, I always pictured myself in my own little classroom with my own little kids.

Now that I am in class, it gives me the opportunity to experience being with the children and it’s great. I enjoy working with them and I hope to gain more skills and knowledge on how to deal with kids. I hope these will all go in the right direction. So far it’s really great. Anyway, it reminds me back then when I was a kid.

At first, I was kind of nervous, but as the days passed by, I got used to the kids and the kids got used to me. By now, we ‘re helping each other out by taking some time learning from each other . So it’s a pretty good experience.

It gave us a glimpse on what to expect after college. It is really cool. I hope they will continue on with this program.

It is a great experience because we will learn how to manage a class and know what to expect when we have our own.

It feels good. I get along with the kids and it helps a lot. They like it that I am around, they are doing good. I just want to keep going on and on.
