An employee of Hansae Incorporated who allegedly employed illegal workers and deduct money from their salary appeared in Superior court yesterday where a $10,000 unsecured bond was set for his temporary release.

Assistant Attorney General Aaron Williams filed the information against Hansae Inc. and its general manager, Ray Tomokane, 34, charging them with counts of employment of illegal alien, harboring illegal alien, illegal subcontract employment and illegal deductions.

Tomokane was arrested at his residence Wednesday night.

The information said between April 17, 1995 to March 21, 1998, Hansae and Tomokane employed three non-resident workers, knowing they did not have lawful documentation and authority to be so employed.

The defendants also conceal the workers from detection.

Williams told the court yesterday that Tomokane deduct $50 from the salary of two workers identified as Nenita Resurrecion and Conchita Masinegra every pay period for working with the company.

He alleged that over the last three years, Tomokane had deducted about $4,500 from the garment workers.

The complaint against Tomokane was brought by former garment workers who also became victims of the illegal deductions.

Superior Court Judge Timothy Bellas ordered Tomokane to stay away from the factory. He will return to court on Monday, Jan. 25, for the arraignment.
