San Vicente Elementary School has announced that all yellow track students will not be able to transfer to DanDan Elem School this month as scheduled pending completion of various facilities.

The yellow track students will remain in San Vicente until March 19, according to Martha Haberman, school principal.

When Dandan Elem School opens in April, Haberman said it will still be under the supervision of San Vicente School since the yellow track students and teachers will be there. Haberman has requested parents of students living in DanDan to transfer their children to the new school in April to prevent chaos and overcrowding.

Some 400 students are expected to be accommodated when DanDan Elem School with its 16 classrooms become operational. With its current enrollment of more than 1,000 students, San Vicente school continues to observe the multi-track system.

Faced with budgetary constraints, the Public School System may have difficulty recruiting new teachers for DanDan Elem School. Twelve positions have been approved for DandDan school in this fiscal year’s budget but payroll deficit makes it difficult for school officials to recruit the needed personnel.

Officials have suggested the transfer of some teachers to DanDan, particularly those coming from five schools who will transfer their students to the new facility.

At least 150 yellow track students from San Vicente and 80 students from William S. Reyes will transfer to DanDan. Likewise, Oleai, Koblerville and Garapan will send their students there.
