GES marks Science and Math Awareness Week
Garapan Elementary School Principal, Mr. Juan L. Babauta, announces that the week of March 1-5, 1999, is Science and Math Awareness Week for the school. In preparation for this awareness week all 2nd to 6th grade teachers are asked to submit science questions for the contest along with the names of 4 top students in science. Also all teachers are asked to submit posters, essays and projects for displays.
Throughout the week, the school will conduct a Science Bee contest for grades 2-4. There will also be a Math Challenge contest for all grade levels. Then there is the “guess the pennies” comtest where the student who come closest to guessing the number of pennies in a jar wins a prize. The activities include guest speakers whose profession and expertise are in the areas of math and science. According to the Pricipal the awareness week will help boost students’ interest in mathg and science and improve student perfornmances in these areas.
The committee chaired by Ms. Kendall Byington developed a well though-out activities and received commendation from the Administrator, faculty and staff.
