1999 Saipan Little League Baseball Season Opening

February 20, 1999 In a jam packed crowd witnessing the 1999 Saipan Little League Baseball Season Opening saw the power house of the mid 90's as the runner-up champion San Roque D-9ers edging the 1998 Champion San Vicente A's in a close and exciting match-up 5-4. Returning player Juan Dikito came in relief gave up no hit walk 4 in the winning cause. Albert Santos, looking superb on the mound only to see a little nightmare in the last inning, struck out 10 D-9er batters, walk 4, gave up only 2 hits in the losing side.

Second Game: CK Padres 9, San Antonio Cardinals 7
Joe Blas went 2 for 4, scored 2 times and Jun Imperial also scored twice as the Padres defeated the heavily favorite San Antonio Cardinals 9-7. Lefty Anthony Palacios struck out 10 batters, gave up 6 hits, 1 base on ball as a reliever. Ryan Sablan, Darcy Reyes, Franklin Sablan and Thomas Joab all contributed 2 hits a piece for the young Cardinals.

Sunday Game Results

First Game: Toyota Cruisers 7, Kagman Rockies 6
Doug Brennan believes in basic baseball and that is the key for his young might Cruisers as they went on and defeated the heavily favorite Kagman Rockies in the last inning by a score of 7-6. Steven Lizama and John Carlo Sanchez contributed with 2 runs a piece. Sanchez also was impressive on the mound striking out 3 batters, walk 4, gave up 2 hits, coming in as a reliever in the third inning. Jack Diaz was even more impressive with 10 strike outs after being relieved when his team was ahead.
Second Game: Little Knight 28, Fielders 2
Brian Nicolas Jr. blasted 4 doubles in 4 straight trip to the plate, scored 5 times. Teammates Oliver Sechamital had 3 hits with 3 runs, Jonathan Lee Green went 3 for 4 with 4 runs, Mike Salas scored 4 times, Macarly Masaharu and Darson Camacho with 3 runs as the Little Knight went off to a good start beating the young Fielders by a score of 28-2.
Third Game: MV Ol Aces 10, Tanapag Braves 2
Returning All-Star Daryl Ada pitched 6 strong innings faced only 25 batters, struck out a career high of 16 batters, fired a one hitter, gave up 4 walk while teammate returning All-Star Jack Lizama blasted the first over the park homerun deep dead center. Benwachi Taisakan had 3 hits in 4 trips to the plate, while Kevin Kaipat and Ryan Tudela all contributes with 2 runs batted in for the Ol’ Aces.
Fourth Game: DanDan Blue Jays 3, Kautz Glass Glazers 1
The fourth and final game of the day saw the DanDan Blue Jays prevail over the Kautz Glass Glazers 3 to 1. Glazers drew blood in the first inning scoring their lone run of the game while the Blue Jays scored their runs in the 2nd, 5th and 6 inning.
