MTC customer service goes 'paperless'

Visitors to Micronesian Telecommunications Corporation’s customer service centers may notice a refreshing neatness around the employee’s desks and there’s a good reason — no paper. Local telephone service in the Northern Marianas has come one step closer to full automation during March.

According to company officials, the new system allows MTC staff on Saipan, Tinian and Rota to streamline the order taking process, whereby information from customers is input directly into the computer to initiate a variety of telecommunications services — without the MTC staff or customers ever having to handle paperwork.

“This has done away with the old system where we had a lot of forms and after a customer filled one out, it had to be input into a computer later,” said MTC Customer Service Administrator Kathryn Jeanes Fullmer. “The new system cuts down greatly on time a customer has to spend in our offices and is much more efficient operationally.”
