Gov. Pedro P. Tenorio yesterday proclaimed May 3-8 as CNMI Safe Drinking Water Week to coincide with the celebration nationwide, designating the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation as the lead agency to mark the event.

In his proclamation, the governor urged citizens to enjoy and protect the natural resources of the Northern Marianas for future generation as well as to work with CUC in preventing harmful effects to the environment.

The government-owned utility corporation has lined up the following events next week:

Tuesday – Water testing demonstration on Tinian

Wednesday and Thursday – Water quality testing, how it is done when you do it yourself

Friday – Stencil Day where children will stencil warning, such as “Dump no waste, goes to ocean,” by drains and sidewalk. It is also water testing demonstration on Rota.
