Court approves payment to Hillblom heirs, lawyers
The continuing litigation of the Hillblom estate has reached two decisions from the Superior Court. One has allowed the preliminary distribution of the $50 million for the heirs, trust and other claimants. Second, it allowed the estate to pay the professionals involved in this case.
In a latest Superior Court decision last week, $30 million will be divided among the four children, namely Larry Hillbroom, Jeelian Cuartero, Mercedita Feliciano and Nguyen Be Lory. However, an earlier temporary restraining order halts the full distribution of the money pending outcome of the case.
In an interview with lawyer Michael Dotts, the order for preliminary distribution allowed the children to get a larger sum of money, reportedly up to $7.5 million for each heir.
The remaining $20 million will go to the Hillblom Charitable Trust and to pay the other claimants including his mother and former live-in partner.
In a separate decision, the court ordered the Hillblom estate to give the Clerk of Court some $700,000 in order to pay the service providers, such as lawyers, accountants, and other professionals who took part of the litigation. (Sheila D. Amor)
