Rota recognized by GDDC
In celebration of “March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month”, the Governor’s Developmental Disabilities Council (GDDC) Recognition Award Luncheon & Assistive Technology (AT) Logo/Theme Contest Award were held in Rota at the Sunset Villa Beach Cottages on April 23, 1999.
The Rota Recognition Luncheon Award ceremony cappedoff the awareness month activities and events for the year.
Participants were from the Public School System, Rota High School Principal, Jess Songsong, and Elementary School Principal, Jovie Taimanao.
The AT Logo/Theme Contest 3rd place winner was 5th Grader Lenny Barcinas. Former GDDC board member, Maria Mesngon was also awarded a certificate of appreciation for her hard work and dedication while a board member from 1986 to 1998.
The Honorable Mayor Benjamin T. Manglona gave the opening remarks as well as assisted in the presentation of seventeen certificate of recognition awards to government agencies, private entities and individuals for promoting and supporting employment as well as advocating human rights and needs of people with developmental disabilities and their families.
