Governor Pedro P. Tenorio yesterday named Asst. Public Defender Masood Karimipour as acting chief of the Public Defender’s Office, Press Secretary Frank Rosario said yesterday.

“Mr. Karimipour will be the head of the Public Defender’s Office in a temporary capacity until the governor made an official appointment,” Rosario said.

Karimipour would replace Harvey Palefsky, who resigned last Monday due to personal reasons.

Palefsky has recommended Karimipour, who has been practicing law for more than 10 years.

Palefsky earlier said another lawyer from the mainland has been hired by the government to join the Public Defender’s Office.
