CUC: Aquabest water is safe
Aquabest is back in business. Microbiological testings conducted by the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. laboratory on June 21, 1999 showed that Aquabest water is safe for consumption.
After inspecting the Aquabest water plant, the Bureau of Environmental Health said the company has maintained its Grade “A” status. The Division of Environmental Quality has referred the testing be conducted by CUC laboratory due to unavailability of its staff. CUC laboratory is accredited by US Environmental Protection Agency.
Based on the report made by CUC laboratory supervisor Pedro Q. Babauta, total coliform bacteria is not present in the bottled water randomly tested.
Mikko Magsaysay, general manager, said Aquabest remains committed to selling clean water and will not do anything that will jeopardize people’s health.
Magsaysay asked the public to make sure that their water containers are not contaminated with any chemicals or oil to ensure the safety of their drinking water.
The presence of total coliform bacteria in the drinking water is usually the result of a problem with the water treatment system and indicates that the water may be contaminated with organisms that can cause diseases.
