The Public School System has started processing the contracts of new teachers who were selected from last month’s job fair, said Charlie Kenty, head of PSS Human Resource Office.

” Letters of intent [to hire] have been issued to applicants who were recommended by the principals,” Kenty said. “The teachers’ contracts will be ready before the school opening.”

Kenty said 90 percent of public schools will surely meet their recruitment needs.

A total of 102 applicants signed up at the two-day job fair, which produced the eligibility list for teachers.

Of the 70 vacant positions, 59 will be filled up by PSS.

Most of those who signed up were retired teachers, and new graduates who wish to rejoin the local teaching pool. (MCM)
